GNOME tells us about what's happening at GUADEC 2023 and a few software news

GNOME: GUADEC 2023

From July 26 to next Monday the 31st, GUADEC 2023 is being held. Many components of GNOME Project they are there, so the development of the core of their software is now somewhat at a standstill. Those who cannot or do not have the reason to attend the conference are the independent developers, and that is the reason why they have followed the movement during the week that has gone from the 21st to the 28th of this month.

These conferences are not like those of companies like Google or Apple, which beforehand hold an event with news about the next versions of Android or iOS, and the intention is to bring people together to talk about GNOME. Therefore, among the little that we have been told about the GUADEC 2023 It can be mentioned that they have congratulated Tobias Bernard, who has won the Community Appreciation Award.

Already fully in the software, this is the new thing that they have presented this week:

  • Cartridges 2.1 has arrived with support for Amazon Games in Heroic.
  • Cavalier, the audio viewer, is now rewritten in C# and has received new features, such as drawing mode, reflection adjustment, or the ability to change the drawing direction.

  • Parabolic v2023.7.3:
    • The layout of the Keyring dialog has been improved making it clearer and more user friendly. A History dialog has also been added that allows users to manage previously downloaded videos. Under the hood, they have updated to gir.core v0.4.0 which brings many improvements using GTK and asynchronous programming in C#. As a result, the code is cleaner and easier to read.
