KDE Applications 19.08.3 arrives as the latest maintenance release in the series

KDE Applications 19.08.3

This time I will not say that "should get to Discover", because it is something I did last month and I was wrong. Nor was I much to blame if we take into account that they told me so in April and the v19.04.2 it did appear in the Kubuntu software center, but the truth is that KDE Applications 19.08.3 it is now available and the new versions of the KDE applications, released in August, are not yet available in your Backports repository.

The logical confusion comes from how KDE updates its application packages: when there is a new version, they are uploaded for those who want to use them from their binaries and some also to Flathub or Snapcraft. To operating systems like Kubuntu (KDE neon receives them instantly) they arrive if we add the Backports repository when they release a couple of maintenance releases, something that happened last month, but we're still waiting. Therefore, I hope they will arrive soon, but this time I will remain skeptical.

Will KDE Applications 19.08.3 come to Discover?

With all the above explained, the news is that yes, the KDE Community has released KDE Applications 19.08.3. As on other occasions, they have published two articles about this launch, one in which they tell us about his availability and another with the full list of news, 63 cambios in total in the November 2019 release. As a maintenance release, no new features have been added.

The next version will already be KDE Applications 19.12, the December version that will arrive with new functions. The downside, as we have already seen, is that we will not be able to use them until, in the best of cases, February, when they release a couple of maintenance versions, which will coincide with the release of KDE Applications 19.12.2. In any case, we already have a new maintenance version of the KDE applications ... we'll see when they appear in Discover.
