Install Kid3 3.6.0 on Ubuntu

The developer of this program maintains a repository with the latest packages for Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, and Ubuntu 17.10. To install it on our system, we will have to open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T). In it we will execute the following command to add the PPA:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ufleisch/kid3

After this, in the same terminal we will execute the following commands to install:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install kid3-qt

For users using KDE, it will be advisable replace kid3-qt in the last command with kid3 for better integration. We will also find its corresponding command line version. Just have to change kid3-qt to kid3-cli.

For remove the PPA, we will have the possibility to use the Ubuntu Software option. In it we will go to the 'Other software' tab and from there we can proceed to the elimination. We will also have the option to open a terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and write in it:

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:ufleisch/kid3

For remove the tag editor from our system, we will only need to execute the following command in the same terminal:

sudo apt-get remove --autoremove kid3 kid3-*
