Ubuntu 17.04 Zesty Zapus will be officially released on April 26

Ubuntu 17.04 Zesty Zappus

Although many of us already knew that the next version of Ubuntu would be released next April, Ubuntu team has released Ubuntu 17.04 development schedule, a calendar that brings certain surprises to the usual dates.

La next version of Ubuntu will be released next April 26, a date already expected by many if we take into account the dates of the latest versions released in April. Thus, the first alpha of this version will be available before the end of this year.

Ubuntu 17.04 will arrive on our computers on April 26

Ubuntu 17.04 Zesty Zapus will have support and updates for nine months, which means that we can use it until January 2018, just before the next LTS version of Ubuntu is launched. In any case, the development dates are as follows:

  • December 29, Alpha 1 Launch
  • January 26, Alpha 2 launch
  • February 23, launch of Beta 1
  • March 23, Final Beta Launch
  • March 30, kernel freeze
  • April 13, Release Candidate release
  • April 26 launch of the new version.

This calendar can be altered and may be modified due to development problems, something that has already happened with some distributions like Fedora, however this is something that has not happened since Ubuntu 6.06, a version that had a certain delay.

Since then Ubuntu has not been delayed with the launch of its versions, something that makes more and more users choose this distribution with the ideal one to use on their computer. Another thing is the field of official flavors. Every time there are more official flavors that do not follow the official Ubuntu calendar although the final release date is respected. And in this case the thing is more interesting because we have one more official flavor: Ubuntu Budgie.
