Ubuntu 22.10 Kinetic Kudu opens its wallpaper contest

Ubuntu 22.10 Kinetic Kudu Fund Contest

We are already in September, and the most important steps in the development of Ubuntu 22.10 Kinetic Kudu they are close. In about a month the beta version will be announced, but first they will publish by all means the wallpaper that the operating system will use. Said background will be designed by the Canonical team, but not others; some of those that appear are the winners of the background contest, and the one for Kinetic Kudu was announced yesterday, Tuesday, August 31.

It has caught my attention to see the header image, the one that also heads the thread on the fund contest of Ubuntu 22.10 Kinetic Kudu. If memory serves me, they have never published anything similar in the Ubuntu discourse, an image of the animal with the typical polygonal shapes that, with some tweaks, could well be the one they use from next October. If this is the case or not, we will leave doubts in a few weeks.

Ubuntu 22.10 Kinetic Kudu Funding Contest Rules

As every six months in most flavors of x-buntu, there are some rules that must be followed in order to deliver the images. If they are not met, they will be discarded. They are the following:

  • You must own the work you submit, and it must be original.
  • The resolution must be 3840×2160. It is recommended to submit a smaller one so that the contest page loads faster.
  • It is necessary to avoid that the image has poor quality and pixels or noise are seen.
  • There are no watermarks, names or logos to add.
  • When publishing the image, you must include a text saying that you are licensing the image as CC BY-SA 4.0 or CC BY 4.0. If not written, the first of the above is assumed to be used. By participating you automatically agree to the license terms.
  • Nothing is mentioned about politics, sex or drugs, but I do it just in case: in this type of contest, images that contain images with sexual, political, drug, violence or offensive content are usually rejected, so it is better avoid delivering something like that, because of what may happen.

The contest opened a few hours ago, and jobs can be delivered en this link. It will close on September 16, voting will take place on September 23 and the winners will be announced on the same day. The backgrounds will already appear in the Ubuntu 22.10 beta. The stable version will come with news such as Default PipeWire October 20.
