And is that Budgie is the younger brother of the Ubuntu family, and is always the earliest in any move, whether it's announcing a release, that the Daily Builds are available, or, as this article motivates, the Ubuntu Budgie 22.04 wallpaper contest Jammy Jellyfish.
This is a story that repeats itself every six months, and it repeats in several of the official Ubuntu flavors. As we read in the official note, must submit your own images, complying with some rules, and deliver them so that, when the time comes, they decide which are the winners and which ones will be included when Ubuntu Budgie 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish is released.
Ubuntu Budgie 22.04 Funding Contest Rules
- The images should not be too cluttered and filled with too many shapes and colors, a similar tone throughout the whole is a good rule of thumb.
- A single focus point, a single area that draws the eye into the image, can also help you avoid something too cluttered.
- You have to test the image with different aspect ratios to ensure that something important is not cropped on smaller or larger screens at different resolutions.
- There must be no brand names or trademarks of any kind, or brand assets such as ubuntu-budgie or text in order to allow use by derivative distributions.
- Also no version numbers, as some may prefer to continue using the background with an older version of Ubuntu.
- Illustrations that some may consider inappropriate, offensive, hateful, devious, defamatory or slanderous, sexually explicit or provocative images, those that contain weapons or violence and those that promote the consumption of alcohol, tobacco or drugs are prohibited.
- Designs that promote intolerance, racism, hatred or harm against groups or individuals are not allowed; or that promote discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age.
- Religious, political or nationalist images will not be accepted.
- Allowed formats: PNG and JPG.
- Resolution: 3840 x 2160.
All the winning images will be added to Ubuntu Budgie 22.04, and since it is an LTS release, they will be visible until 2025.
