Ubuntu Cinnamon will debut new logo at Focal Fossa

New Ubuntu Cinnamon logo

The team that develops Ubuntu Cinnamon and its collaborators, among which Ubuntu Budgie stands out, has made great strides in recent weeks. As close as last Friday the first stable version of what is currently known as Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix and today they have told us about a change that the author of this article considers important and necessary: they are going to update their logo to a simpler and easier to understand one.

As you can see in the following image, the original logo would spiral the Ubuntu logo to finish with the Cinnamon logo (the one from the mountains) in the center. Although the idea is clear, joining the Cinnamon and Ubuntu logos in the same logo has always been too complex for me. From the looks of it, the developers of the next official Ubuntu flavor had the same feeling and the change will be a reality to as of April 2020.

Ubuntu Cinnamon will simplify its logo

We will be switching to a new logo, which will take effect on 20.04/17 and the icons will change on February 2020, XNUMX, a year after the project began planning to become what it is today and beyond.

Without having talked to them, let them correct me if they read me and I'm wrong, the new "sum" of logos results in:

  • The circumference with the three Ubuntu slices is present; the cut at the bottom left is made by the separation of the mountains.
  • The circles / balls in the Ubuntu logo are there, but they become three triangles, which works best with the mountains.
  • The mountains indicate that the flavor is "Cinnamon."

As we can read in the tweet published by the official account of the project, the change will be effective for Focal Fossa, a launch that is scheduled for April 23, 2020. They promise that icons will change on February 17, so we can probably see how everything will be in the images (Daily Build) that are released from that day. What do you think about the change?
